Collages are really...something.

I've never had the desire to make a collage, then again, the thought of creating a self portrait, editing it in Adobe Photoshop, paying $7.50 to obtain a 6x4 print of previously mentioned portrait on some sort of foam board substance, and then presenting it to the class so they can critique it never dawned on me either. The collage I think will be more difficult than the self portrait. Self portraits were rather easy in comparison, a picture of you, some other junk, and a lens flare for good measure and you had a keeper. A collage on the other hand needs a theme, images fitting said theme, and the know how to make it look like something and not like the first 10 images from Google image search just slapped down.

Of course you could do that, claim it as some new form of art and I suppose no one could disagree. I'm looking around for a theme or idea to turn into something that someone, at some point may call a collage, as of yet, nothing interesting has struck me.

Self portrait

It wasn't until last night that I had taken all of my photos. My friend and I worked through a few different ideas before finally landing on one that I liked and would also work. I'll post the final outcome here when it's complete. I'm going to be cramming to actually get the several photos blended together to something that doesn't look like crap. Printing, framing and the writing of the creative strategy is going to take a large portion of time also.


Procrastination is horrible, and I never learn.

Creativity is low.

Trying to find ideas for the photoshop project is more difficult than I thought. I've been checking out the Getty Images website and other art websites for inspiration. I also decided to head to The Duke of Wellington for a pint or 2...this didnt not improve creativity. Perhaps the more I learn about photoshop the easier the ideas will come to me.

My name is Joel, from Medicine Hat, Alberta and I'm 22 years old. Outside of school I do the same things the average University student does; enjoy the local pubs, play video games, and hang out with my friends.. yes, I'm aware thats a clichéd answer, but I don't do anything like interesting like climb mountains or save lives.

I chose Lethbridge to complete my undergraduate degree in psychology due to the amount of friends I have living in Lethbridge and its close proximity to Medicine Hat, that way if I want/need to I can be home within a couple of hours. As for goals and aspirations I'm obviously here to finish my degree in psychology and am also entertaining the thought of writing LSAT exams for law school admittance. On the subject of a career, possibly something in financial law. My goals for this course is to get me one step closer on the road to finishing my degree, and getting a good grade.

I do have experience with Photoshop, Dreamweaver and Adobe Premiere. My skills are fairly limited, I expect this course to expand my knowledge on all 3 of the previously listed programs. I do have access to both a digital camera and video camera.
